Meta has banned media outlets in Russia, including RT
Meta, owned by Facebook, has banned a number of Russian state media, including RT, Rossiya Segodnia, from their platforms. The ban will come into effect soon. News Reuters.
According to Meta, these Russian media outlets have been globally banned from Meta apps due to foreign interference activities. Meta has also accused these media outlets of using deceptive tactics to gain influence.
As a result of this new ban, no media content can be seen on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peshkov said that Meta is calling itself into question through these activities. Such action against Russian media is unacceptable.
